Plagiarism detection

Mammalia aequatorialis publishes only original and unpublished articles and scientific notes. For this reason, submitters must include a letter stating that the submitted paper is original, has not been previously published (in whole or in part), and has not been submitted to another journal at the same time.

For the detection of plagiarism or the publication of articles already published, the editors of Mammalia aequatorialis will review the submitted manuscripts and check with their bibliographic databases. If they have doubts, they will ask for the opinion of specialists in the species or taxonomic groups. Once this first check has been successfully completed, a manuscript can begin the peer review process.

Once a manuscript has been accepted it will be evaluated through Turnitin for plagiarism. The journal accepts submissions with a plagiarism rate of no more than 25%. If the manuscript has a plagiarism report with more than 25%, authors will have the opportunity to justify this percentage or reduce it and resubmit the paper to the journal.

If during the revision, editing or publication process it is detected that a manuscript has signs of plagiarism or has already been published previously, its publication will be suspended until there is due investigation and clarification by the author(s). If the fault is proven, publication will be definitively suspended.

If this fault is detected once the article or scientific note has already been published, it will be removed from our archives until there is due investigation and clarification by the author(s). If the fault is proven, the publication will be definitively deleted.

The elimination of an article or scientific note due to plagiarism will be discussed and approved by the Editorial Board, whose decision will be accepted by the editors. The decision to eliminate an article or scientific note because it has already been published in another source, either in whole or in part, will be the exclusive decision of the editors.
